Fredi on special strike
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
After a slight pause for consideration, Fredi Kanoute admitted that he didn't think he has netted a goal similar to his special debut strike against Leeds on Saturday.
Despite total domination, the vocal crowd at the Lane were being made to wait for the breakthrough and Glenn was able to call on his new striker for the first time on 61 minutes and, just ten minutes later, the Frenchman responded with a goal of enormous quality.
The ball was bobbing around in the Leeds area before Fredi, with his back to goal, flicked the ball up before hitting a superb scissors kick beyond the despairing dive of Paul Robinson.
As debut goals go, this one must be pretty close to the top of the pile.
"I haven't seen it on television yet, but I don't think I've scored one like that before," said a beaming Fredi afterwards, before adding that his injury is now fine and praising the medical staff.
"It was alright, I was confident about playing because the medical staff have done a very good job. I had a quick recovery so I was very happy.
"Yes, it was a very good debut. I am stepping forward now and just want to score many others."
Fredi says that he was a bit concerned sitting on the bench that the long periods of control were not getting the deserved rewards.
"It is always frustrating when you are dominating and not getting the goals you deserve. I was just a bit scared that we wouldn't score as I think we deserved to win.
"Being a striker is all about confidence I think. There is no better way to start than scoring on your debut. I am now going to try and evacuate the pressure and afterwards look forward to the next game.
"It is a good debut, but I have to keep going."
