Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Frank Arnesen today praised the reaction of the players following the acute disappointment of being denied a clear goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford last night.
Naturally, questions were asked of referee Mr Clattenburg but there was no aggressive surrounding of the officials either immediately after the decision not to award the goal or post-match.
Head Coach Martin Jol also took the setback on the chin and simply added his weight to calls for technology to be bought in to assist referees.
"I was proud of the way that Martin and our players reacted to a frustrating decision and with the restraint they should during and after the game," reflected the Sporting Director.
"Obviously this was a big decision and when such a key call goes against you then it is hard because all players want to win. There’s also no doubt that a goal at that point would have won the game.
"However, as long as referees have to make decisions then we have to accept the end result because they are human beings like everybody else and we all make mistakes. The officials are also under big pressure nowadays because they are being scrutinised from all angles by TV and the discussions go on for hours after a game.
"At the end of the day, you will win some and lose some, that is life. As long as technology is not in use then we have to accept what is an honest judgement and we don’t want to make it harder for referees than it already is.
"Therefore I was delighted with Martin and his team because to win at Old Trafford would have been a fantastic result. But they took it on the chin and I was really proud of their behaviour and feel that is worthy of mention."
