Frank hoping for big finish

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Frank Arnesen anticipates an exciting finish to the season and feels we are very much 'still in the hunt' for a UEFA Cup spot.

Aston Villa provide our next challenge at White Hart Lane on Sunday, a team that sit just a single point behind us in 9th place in the Barclays Premiership. Middlesbrough, our following opponents, hold a two-point advantage over us in the crucial 7th place.

In terms of European football, this season looks like going to the wire and the Sporting Director confirms it has been a topic of conversation at the training ground.

"Of course, we had a meeting on Tuesday with the players committee to discuss our trip to Mauritius and a bit about pre-season and, naturally, we ended up talking about our last three games.

"We are still in the hunt even though we lost on Monday and we will see what happens. We are very much geared up to give everything to get into Europe next season."

With closest contenders Villa and Middlesbrough still to come, Frank acknowledges the finishing position is in our own hands and the fixtures will have a six-point feel to them.

"Exactly, the next two games are huge for us, the first coming up on Sunday against Aston Villa followed by Middlesbrough away," he added. They are two six-point games and it is marvellous that, at this point in the season, we are still in contention for a place in the UEFA Cup."

While the prize of a UEFA Cup place is up for grabs, Frank reports the capture of this would be a bonus for our young squad and he has been careful not to place the burden of expectation on the players in what has been a first season at the club for many.

"First of all if we had done it would not have been realistic with a young squad and it would have put pressure on the group. I try to always be realistic and we have done well but, if we don't get in, we don't get in. Next season we will then battle to get in the top six positions because we have seen this season that we have good enough players to compete."
