Four-midable Under-18s sink Fulham
Our Under-18s scored four goals in 30 minutes either side of half-time as they secured a 4-2 win against Fulham in the Premier Academy League on Saturday.
Jack Munns led the way with a double with Kenneth McEvoy and Grant Ward also on target.
Fulham took the lead, Munns levelled and then two goals in as many minutes from McEvoy and Ward turned the game around completely. Munns hammered home the fourth on the hour before Fulham hit a consolation 15 minutes from time.
"We had a lot of the ball in the first half and we looked to pass it and keep it but Fulham made it very hard for us to get through," reported coach Alex Inglethorpe.
"When a match is set-up like that there is always a danger of a counter-attack and that's what happened as Fulham went 1-0 up midway through the half.
"We continued to play and levelled with a good team goal on the half-hour.
"It was similar to the goal we scored against Chelsea last week in that it started at the back with Billy Granger in goal and we worked it up the right through Alex McQueen and Kenneth McEvoy, he got to the byline and delayed cutting the ball back perfectly for Jack Munns to arrive and finish from around the penalty spot.
"The second and third goals came from us pressing high up the pitch.
"We went 2-1 up when Grant Ward made an interception, drove inside and played the pass right in a two-on-one situation for Kenneth McEvoy to drill into the roof of the net.
"The third goal was just before half-time and very similar. This time we won back possession and Grant Ward found a great finish with the outside of his right foot from the edge of the box.
"The fourth goal came from good play in midfield from Ruben Lameiras and Nabil Bentaleb, that freed up Jack Munns 25 yards from goal and he smashed it home.
"There were plenty of positives. Kevin Stewart was outstanding in his positioning, his interceptions and the way he brought the ball out of defence. He was very commanding.
"I also thought Nabil Bentaleb had his best game for us in midfield, he's getting stronger with every training session and every game."
