FOOTBALL FOR ALL
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Tottenham Hotspur FITC is committed to promoting sporting activity within the communities with which we work. Haringey is now a borough with a diverse population (comprising 47 different nationalities) and in an attempt to bring together the different ethnic communities, Tottenham FITC has linked with the Metropolitan Police to allow local children to all come together and participate in five-a-side football competitions.
Tottenham Hotspur FITC Scheme has also set up after school and holiday coaching programmes on several estates in the local area. Our coaches provide free soccer schools and free follow up weekly sessions and those involved are given the chance to form a football team to compete in a local league. Furthermore, a number of the participants are given the opportunity to train as football coaches enabling the teams to become self-sufficient and continue independently.
The projects have provided sustained coaching programmes in disadvantaged areas with support from Co-operative Insurance, Kick It Out (football’s anti-racism organisation) and Sportsmatch, a government funded scheme that encourages companies to sponsor grass roots programmes by matching their financial cost on a pound for pound basis.
