Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Two teams of lifelong Spurs supporters fulfilled the dream of every fan on Monday when they played on the pitch which is usually the reserve of their heroes.
The Club were once again delighted to participate in Football Aid, a nationwide event which allows fans of all clubs to bid for the chance to wear their club colours and play on the hallowed turf of their team, with all proceeds going to charity.
At White Hart Lane on Monday, the 29 highest Spurs bidders lived out a lifetime ambition in an entertaining match which also saw guest captains Martin Chivers and Phil Beal taking part.
Cheered on by family and friends, the two squads - one in home kit and one in the away strip - enjoyed a competitive but friendly 90 minutes of football with the away team, led by Phil Beal, winning 6-4!
The match had everything with goals galore, numerous missed chances, a penalty blazed wide (mentioning no names, Pierre Smith!) and disallowed goals due to controversial offsides!
Nine different players added to their day out by getting on the scoresheet, with Robert Caren, Pierre Smith, Barry Carter and Barry Knight scoring for the home side and Andy Pelley, Peter Smith, Andrew Kidney (2), Paul Maxwell and Jason Trigg on target for the winners.
The team captains chose the man of the match for their opponents, with Martin picking out the away goalkeeper Damian Twyford for a string of fine saves, while Phil selected Pierre Smith for a good all-round display despite his penalty miss!
The Club and Football Aid organisers would like to thank everyone who took part both on the pitch - including the referee and his two assistants - and behind the scenes to ensure a successful and enjoyable afternoon, particularly the players for their generous donations to charity.
