Fast start key - Steffen
Steffen Freund is looking for a fast start against NK Maribor in the Europa League on Thursday night.
We take on the Slovenian champions in Matchday Four knowing that victory would move us up to at least second place in Group J.
The other group match sees current leaders Lazio host Panathinaikos in Rome.
Maribor proved a tough nut to crack when we met at the Ljudski vrt Stadium in Matchday Three.
Indeed, they took the lead just before half-time through Robert Beric but Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a deserved equaliser in the second half.
Steffen is determined for us to take charge of the return match in front of our supporters at the Lane.
“First of all, it’s up to us to start well, to put them under pressure, to keep possession high up the pitch and create chances,” said Assistant Head Coach Steffen. “Then, the goal will come.
“If we’re struggling a little, if we can’t create or score early, then we need the supporters. They have been fantastic.
“We know it will be another difficult game for us. It’s also the chance to turn everything around in a positive way because we have three draws (in the group) and if we beat Maribor, we will definitely be at least second, unbeaten with six points. That would be great.”
