Familiar face at the Lodge
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
A familiar face has been pounding the pavements of Spurs Lodge for the last week on an extended visit to the club.
The face in question is one of the most famous in our modern history and is certainly one of the most recognisable. Of course, it is Ricky Villa, who is making his third visit back to Spurs in the last 15 months.
He popped over last January to collect an award for scoring the most famous Wembley goal and he was here again this season to catch up with Glenn and the staff at the end of November and took in our Worthington Cup victory over Fulham.
As David Pleat revealed in his programme notes for the Chelsea game, Ricky has arranged for us to take a look at two young Argentinean players at the training ground and the big man himself took the opportunity to come over with them.
"I'm back here just to visit the club," said Ricky. "I've brought two Argentinean players over with me to have a game in training here.
"Not like an agent - I am no agent! I have just come with the players."
Ricky hopes that the players will just get a feel of the place, join in with some training and benefit from the experience.
"This is the idea. They are young boys, both 18, and we will see what happens."
Ricky harbours hopes that, one day, more players from his country will wear the Spurs shirt.
"There is only one Argentinean in the team now, I hope one day in the future we will have some more again."
Ricky, who lives on a ranch near Buenos Aires, did manage the Defensa Y Justicia football club.
He is no longer with his club after taking them from the third to the second division in Argentina. "I am currently out of work and looking," he added.
The midfield great is over for a week and staying with Ossie Ardiles in London.
"He is alright. He is looking for a job as well, he is out of work. All the time we spend together we talk about the history we had here. It's very nice."
