Falco's keen on Kane

17 October 2014|Tottenham Hotspur

Mark Falco would love to see Harry Kane continue his progress at Spurs.

Like Harry, Mark was a locally-born, home-grown striker who made it through the youth system at the club.

Born in Hackney, Mark scored 89 goals in 236 competitive matches for us, lifting the UEFA Cup in 1984.

He’s been delighted to track Walthamstow-born Harry’s progress from our Academy through to his first-team breakthrough at the end of last season and now four goals so far this term.

“I think Harry has great potential, he just needs a run in the team and the manager has faith in him, so it’s up to Harry now,” said Mark, who spent 10 years at the club.

“You have to grab your opportunities. If Harry can put the ball in the net then it’s hard to take him out of the team.

“He’s a big lad, holds the ball up well and seems to have an eye for goal. Let’s hope he can continue doing it in the first team.

“I hope he does go on to score plenty of goals for the club.

“I was told the other day that I was the last home-grown striker to get over 20 goals in a season so it would be great if he took that off me!

“It’s a great feeling when you come through the system and go on to win things, especially at a club like Tottenham Hotspur.”
