Everton vs Spurs - Mauricio's preview

24 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino is determined to bring the curtain down on our Premier League season with positive result at Everton – and fifth place.

We travel to Goodison Park for Matchday 38 knowing if we topple Everton and Liverpool fail to beat Stoke at the Britannia we’ll leapfrog the Reds into fifth.

It’s a tough task against an Everton team that has only lost four of 17 at Goodison so far but Mauricio aims to add to our eight away wins so far.

“It’s a very important game and three points because we have the possibility of finishing in fifth place in the table,” he said.

The lads impressed in our home fixture against Everton back in November when we recovered from Kevin Mirallas’ fine early strike to win 2-1 with goals from Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado.

That was the second win on a run of nine wins in 13 matches in the Premier League between November-February.

“I remember the home game against Everton, we showed our best qualities that day,” added Mauricio.

“This is different game and a different moment. Everton is a very good team with a squad that fights for the big prizes. They have great players and a great manager in Roberto Martinez.

“But it’s the last game, it’s always important to finish well and this is a good place to try to do that.”
