Everton vs Spurs - Andre's preview
01 November 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Andre Villas-Boas expects a different kind of test to what we’ve been used to against Everton when we visit the Toffees on Sunday.
Since our last meeting, Roberto Martinez has taken over from David Moyes in the Goodison Park hot seat and has implemented a different brand of football that has so far drawn widespread praise from across the football spectrum.
Head Coach Andre is all too aware of the change in style at Everton, but remains confident we can go there and give them a stern test as we strive to bag three more points.
“There is a massive difference from David Moyes’ more aggressive type of football to Roberto Martinez’s build-up play, so that can make a difference to the game.
“What doesn’t seem to have made a difference is that their results have been excellent and the team has really warmed to Roberto’s ideas of playing excellent football, so I hope it plays out to be an entertaining game.
"It’s a difficult fixture and an important fixture for teams that compete for those four top spots. We face them at a good time, and we hope to go there and make it as difficult as possible for them.”
Andre has re-iterated that Goodison Park remains a tough place to go, but has heaped praise on our players for the way they’ve embraced our will to win on the road so far this term.
“The intensity that is always raised in games like this is clear. They’re always very emotionally driven games,” said Andre.
“(The away form) is not about me, it’s to do with the players. They step up their game, they want to do well for the club. Away games are always important in the Premier League.
“If you get wins away from home it can be extremely important for the run-in into the top four spots.
“Our objective is to go there and achieve the three points.”
