Niclas Alexandersson v
Oyvind Leonhardsen

Two Scandinavian imports go head-to-head in this Saturday's Premiership clash between Everton and Tottenham at Goodison Park. Both Niclas Alexandersson and Oyvind Leonhardsen have failed to hold down regular spots in their respective sides due to a combination of injuries and poor form, so the pair will be hoping Saturday's game will be the match that kick-starts their personal campaigns.

Alexandersson was out of contention for two months after sustaining an injury while on international duty with Sweden. It may be argued that Everton fans have yet to see the best of the exceptionally talented right-midfielder, since his £2 million arrival from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.

Nevertheless Alexandersson has completed 15 more dribbles and runs than Leonhardsen this season, despite spending considerably less time on the pitch than the Tottenham man.

Unlike the Swede, Leonhardsen was unable to parade his skills at Euro 2000 as an ankle problem ruled him out of contention for Norway. But his summer lay-off seemed to benefit George Graham's team, as the former Liverpool grafter started the first nine matches of the season. And his passing accuracy of 73% put him amongst the best passers at the club.

But after scoring a brace in the match against Derby in October, disaster struck when he was stretched off with an hamstring problem and it was only during the recent festive period that Leonhardsen made his comeback.

So far this season, Leonhardsen has offered more threat than Alexandersson in front of goal getting a shot in every 53 minutes per match on average in contrast to the Toffees player, who has averaged an effort every 88 minutes this season. But the Swede was the only scorer when Sheffield Wednesday beat Spurs at White Hart Lane last term, and online betting group SpursBET offers 16/1 on Alexandersson opening his goal account with the first against Spurs on Saturday.

Despite Alexandersson not having a single goal assist to his name this season he set-up Steve Watson for the decisive goal in the Toffees' dramatic last-gasp FA Cup victory at Everton last weekend. And this Saturday he will hope to carry that form into the match with Spurs and make a real impression on the game.

But Leonhardsen, who has the more impressive stats, will be hoping to help Spurs win their first Premiership away match of the season following last week 's cup success at Leyton Orient. And with the Londoners losing only one of their last eight visits to Goodison Park, you can have a 15/8 flutter on Spurs to finally take maximum points from their travels.
