Everton 1-1 Spurs - Mauricio's reaction

Mauricio Pochettino’s overriding feeling was one of positivity after our opening day draw at Everton.
“I think we leave here with a good feeling, excited for the season,” said the manager after watching us come back from a goal down at Goodison Park to secure a 1-1 draw and deserved point on Saturday.
Ross Barkley’s free-kick evaded everyone to hand Everton the lead inside five minutes and we then lost Hugo Lloris – Mauricio confirmed to a hamstring injury – with only 35 minutes on the clock.
We looked a team intent on putting it right from the first whistle of the second half.
Mauricio made a change with Vincent Janssen off the bench for his Premier League debut on 55 minutes – for Eric Dier – and we took control.
Erik Lamela levelled five minutes later and we pushed for the winner – Janssen denied a dream debut from point-blank range by compatriot Maarten Stekelenburg 10 minutes from time.
On the match
Mauricio: “It's the first game of the season and it's always difficult. The first half was difficult for different reasons because they scored early and then Hugo was injured. In the second half we fixed some things and we played much better and deserved the draw, and had chances to win the game. We were unlucky. I was happy with the performance and now we need to follow up.”
Mauricio: “We will need to assess Hugo tomorrow and we'll see what happens. It's a hamstring.”
Mauricio: “He complemented Harry and both played very well. Vincent is a different type of striker and it was perfect, I was happy with his performance. I think Stekelenburg was Man of the Match and that speaks a lot about how it was in the last 45 minutes.”
On Victor Wanyama
Mauricio: “I’m very happy with Victor, his performance was great and so was the team’s.”
On his overall emotions
Mauricio: “It’s only the start. Remember all the games at the start of the season in the past. I think we leave here with a good feeling and excited for the season. It’s only one point but we now prepare for Palace.”
