Euro 2016 - Hugo's heading for the Final!

07 July 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris and France booked their place in the Euro 2016 Final with a 2-0 victory over Germany in Marseille on Thursday night (July 7).

Our popular goalkeeper kept his third – and, by far, most important – clean sheet of the tournament as he skippered the host nation to a hard-fought triumph over the world champions in front of a partisan crowd at the Stade Vélodrome.

It needed a stunning stoppage time save from Thomas Müller’s header to keep it that way, though, while Joshua Kimmich struck the woodwork as Germany tried in vain to find a way back into the semi-final contest following Antoine Griezmann’s double.

The result, Les Bleus’ first major tournament win over Germany since 1958, means Hugo’s side will have the opportunity to win a third international title on their own patch when they meet Portugal in the Final at the Stade de France on Sunday.

France previously won the 1984 European Championship and the 1998 FIFA World Cup on home soil.

Kick-off on Sunday will be at 8pm UK time.
