Euro 2016 - high hopes for Hugo ahead of semi-final
07 July 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Hugo Lloris expects a cracking atmosphere in Marseille tonight (Thursday, July 7) as France face Germany in the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
Home advantage could well come into play for Les Bleus who, as the host nation, are set to be roared on by the majority of fans in and around the 67,400-seater Stade Vélodrome.
Goalkeeper and skipper Hugo believes that vocal support from the stands will be vital as France seek to exact revenge for their FIFA World Cup quarter-final exit at the hands of the Germans two years ago.
“It will be a fantastic game to be involved in as a player and as a team,” he said.
“It’s a match between two big nations of Europe – of course, there is a lot of respect between the sides but it’s a game between two competitive teams and, for sure, it will be a very interesting one.
“For us, we are at home, we will play at the Vélodrome in Marseille and the atmosphere will be great so we will try our best.
“We know in football that everything is possible. It’s just about belief and we believe in ourselves.”
