Eriksen relishing Champions League challenges
25 August 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Christian Eriksen says it's important to face all six of our UEFA Champions League group stage matches head-on.
Thursday's draw in Monaco set tongues wagging across Europe with some interesting pools of four put together.
We found ourselves in Group H along with Spanish powerhouse, current holders and the team that eliminated us from the competition in 2010-11, Real Madrid, plus German giants Borussia Dortmund and APOEL of Cyprus, who we've never previously faced in competitive action.
Several players took to Twitter to express their excitement at the draw, with some real high-quality tests in store at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE, and on the continent over the next few months.
We caught up with crafty midfielder Christian to get his reaction – and the Danish international star had one simple message: 'Bring it on!'
"I think it will be really exciting, I’m looking forward to it," he said.
"They are fantastic games, very tough teams but great games to play in. It’s the stage everyone wants to play on.
"Playing Real Madrid will be special, we know there are a couple of ex-Spurs players there (Luka Modric and Gareth Bale) so they will know everything about us.
"They’ve been at the top of the Champions League for a few years now and it will be tough, but exciting. We won’t lie down at all – we'll go straight ahead, go forward, play football how we play and we’ll see how the results go."
