Erik's view on Chile

15 November 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Erik Lamela expects Chile to give England a tough time at Wembley tonight – but predicts the Three Lions to come through the friendly test.

Chile were beaten twice by Erik's Argentina on their way to finishing third in South American qualifying for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil and are ranked 12th in the world by FIFA.

“They are a brilliant team,” said Erik. “They have players like Alexis Sanchez at Barcelona, Arturo Vidal and they are an amazing team.

“All international matches are difficult, but England have a good team as well and I believe they will win.”

Erik, who played a starring role and scored his first Spurs goal in his last appearance against FC Sheriff in the Europa League, is with the Argentina squad for friendlies against Ecuador tonight and Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday.

“It’s great to have been called up again,” added Erik, capped five times. “It’s amazing to play for your own country, a great feeling. To play at the finals in Brazil would be the greatest thing in the world. If that happens, I’ll be delighted.”
