Erik's optimistic

Erik Lamela has underlined his belief in the squad as we head into a key schedule of fixtures.

Thursday night's 1-1 draw against Fiorentina in the first leg of our Europa League Round of 32 tie kick-started a run of six matches in a 17-day period including the two legs against the Serie A side, Premier League derbies against West Ham and QPR and of course, the Capital One Cup Final against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday week, March 1.

Erik hit the half-century appearance mark for the club against Fiorentina and feels the manner in which the players have applied themselves means we can be confident during in this vital spell.

"We have played a lot of games already this season, often twice a week, and that sort of schedule can be difficult to deal with," he said.

"But we have done well, we have shown we can cope. It's clear we have a good squad and that should allow us to continue to compete in the Premier League and Europa League.

"It's a big thing to get to Wembley and I'm excited that we are in the final of the Capital One Cup. I hope we can win something this year for all the people - the fans, the players, everyone at the club.

"It will be an important game for us at Wembley but first we have to think about West Ham and Fiorentina."
