Erik targets Cup progress

Tue 28 October 2014, 17:45|Tottenham Hotspur

Erik Lamela appreciates there is no room for error in Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup tie with Brighton & Hove Albion.

We take on the Championship side at White Hart Lane with a place in the last eight of the competition at stake.

The tie will be settled on the night, with extra time and penalties coming into play if the scores are level after 90 minutes, with Erik recognising the need to stave off the Seagulls and make a swift return to winning ways.

“I am sure the match is going to be difficult on Wednesday night,” said Erik, who was a Coppa Italia runner-up with Serie A side Roma in 2013.

“I am aware that Brighton have some very talented players and they will want to beat us.

“But this is one individual game that we need to win if we are going to continue in the cup.

“It’s all about what we can do on the night and I believe we are good enough to do well in this competition.”
