Erik on debut season
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Erik Edman declared himself 'quite happy' with his adaption to English football following his transfer from Heerenveen last summer.
The Swedish international left back made a strong start in the Premiership before sustaining a heavy blow to the head against Everton in early October that ruled him out of action until mid-November.
From that point he had to battle for his place in the team with Thimothee Atouba but started our last eight games of the season - a period during which he netted the stunning goal against Liverpool at Anfield.
"In general I am quite happy," reflected the 26-year-old. "Okay, I had some injuries and missed some games, but I am happy with the season.
"It has been a huge change for me, the quality of the league here is much better than in Holland. I have to take this into consideration, I have been playing against top players every time. Bearing this in mind, I am quite happy that I got to play 28 games."
Often overseas players comment on the intensity, pace and physical nature of the English game. Erik said the biggest culture shock has been the ability of nigh on every team in the division to beat each other.
"I can't say the physical side has taken me by surprise, but I have been really impressed by the standard and the quality of every team and the smaller teams have been really good. That is the main thing, the biggest and greatest impression I have of the Premier League.
"That is the shock thing with this league. If a small team went to play Ajax you would almost be 100 per cent sure Ajax would score at least a couple of goals."
