Eric wary of Watford front men

Eric Dier is focused on stifling Watford’s two-pronged strike force this weekend.
The 22-year-old showed his versatility when we faced the Hornets at Vicarage Road over the festive period by dropping back from his usual holding midfield berth into defence as we deployed three centre-backs to contain Watford’s front pairing of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.
With the reverse fixture taking place at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon, Eric anticipates another tough battle against the Hornets’ hard-working forwards.
“They’re a very organised team, they’ve got two players up front who can cause you a lot of problems and we’re going to have to be at our best to be able to beat them,” said our newest England international.
“To be fair to them, they’ve stuck with the way they play and their formation and it’s worked well for them, but I think it might be a bit of a different game now that we’re playing at home. It’s going to be a very tough game but we know what we need to do and now it’s just a matter of us doing it on Saturday.”
We’re third in the Premier League standings heading into the weekend’s fixtures and the lads will undoubtedly be determined to continue picking up points in a bid to gain ground on the sides around us.
But how does Eric think we can ultimately fare in the league?
“We’re going game by game,” he said. “Our main objective is to keep improving with every game. There are always things we can improve on, the manager emphasises that every week and I think all the players are behind that. We just need to keep on improving and go on a game by game basis.”
