Eric looks forward

11 February 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Nursing a bloody nose, Eric Dier was already looking forward as he made his way out of Anfield on Tuesday night.

In an end-to-end match - 14-16 in terms of efforts at goal - Liverpool led twice but we fought back on each occasion to level through Harry Kane (26 minutes) and Mousa Dembele (61).

It could have gone either way but Mario Balotelli’s 83rd-minute goal saw maximum points go to the team in Red.

“We came from behind twice so to end up losing was really disappointing,” said Eric, who lined-up again alongside Jan Vertonghen in central defence.

“It’s a shame we couldn’t hold on to a point or even win it. We came close so as I said, to concede that late goal was a real blow.

“I don’t think we should let this game knock us down though. We’ve a nice break now before we play Fiorentina so we can put a lot of work in and look to bounce back straight away.”

We have a clear weekend as the focus turns back to the FA Cup and we now prepare for our Europa League Round of 32 tie against Italian side Fiorentina over two legs - the first leg is at the Lane on Thursday week, February 19 with the return in Florence a week later.
