Enterprise Challenge finalists get words of support from Brad

A group of five young people from our Skills project saw off fierce competition from 19 other school and community groups across North London to win the opportunity to represent Tottenham Hotspur at the Premier League Enterprise Challenge Semi-Finals.

The Enterprise Challenge, set up to teach 11-19 year olds the basic principles of business, gives young people the opportunity to explore what goes on behind the scenes at a Premier League club as they work together to tackle the very real task of how a club can engage with overseas fans.

Through a series of interactive workshops, both in their community group and at White Hart Lane, the Skills team explored the business of running a football club, learning what it takes for Tottenham Hotspur to be successful off the pitch. From advertising to communications, the group engaged in a range of topics, learning skills that aimed to empower them to become successful.

The winning group, all aged 13-17, are current members of the Ledley King supported Skills project. Skills, delivered by Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, offers a comprehensive sport and education programme to young people from Haringey aged 12-19 years.

As a reward for their hard work, the group attended Monday morning’s first team training session at the Training Centre. Eager to pick up tips on how they could further engage with fans from the USA, the group were delighted to have the opportunity to have a chat with Brad Friedel who offered some words of support to the team.

The successful team will now go on to represent Tottenham Hotspur as they battle it out with teams from the South and Midlands at the Premier League Southern semi-final at West Bromwich Albion in March. Three successful teams will then progress to the national final in London in April.
