England winner a 'fantastic feeling' - Harry

Harry Kane was delighted to take his fine form onto the international stage on Friday night.

The striker came off the bench to score the winner for England Under-21s in their European U21 Championship qualifier against Lithuania in Kaunas.

Harry rose superbly to head home James Ward-Prowse’s cross in the 81st minute to take England’s record to eight wins in nine in Group and a nine-point lead over Moldova.

“It feels great to get the goal and most importantly win the match,” Harry told us from England’s base in Lithuania.

“It’s always a fantastic feeling to score for your country and even more so when it turns out to be the winning goal.

“James Ward-Prowse had the ball on the left, so I made a quick movement inside the box and was able to get my head to the cross. I was delighted to see it go into the back of the net!”

That made it three goals in five appearances so far this term including two in four here at Spurs – plus his match-winning assist against West Ham.

“Whenever I go onto the pitch I want to affect the game and I've been able to do that this season,” he said. “Hopefully I can keep this form up and get some more goals and assists.”

England now complete their qualifying in Moldova on Tuesday. “It’s been a great campaign so far and hopefully we’ll finish the group well and then take that momentum into the play-offs,” he added.

The 10 group winners and four best runners-up compete in seven play-offs to find seven countries to join hosts Czech Republic in the final next summer.
