Emotional moment for Colin

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Colin Calderwood confessed it was an emotional moment saying goodbye after taking the managerial post at Northampton.

His move to the Sixfields Stadium last Friday ended his spell as reserve team manager at Spurs.

It was Colin's third season in charge of the reserves during which he's helped the progress of the likes of Stephen Kelly, Dean Marney, John Jackson, David Galbraith and Lee Barnard.

"It’s been quite emotional saying goodbye, especially to the younger group of players here," admitted Colin. "But it’s on to pastures new and those sad feelings will start to fade the closer I get to Northampton because I’ve got something new to focus on now.

"It was a great opportunity to come back to Tottenham two and a bit years ago.

"The environment I found myself in was a very easy one to learn in and the people here made sure that I didn’t really have too many problems during my stay.

"They helped me in the early stages, kept me right, gave me advice from day one all the way through and that sticks in your mind.

"I’ll always be very grateful for the opportunity I was given.

"This is a great chance for me to cut my teeth in coaching a set of players and managing in games that have a lot riding on them.

"David (Pleat) told me that I’ll feel totally different as a manager than when I'm taking charge of a reserve team and I’m sure some of that won’t be enjoyable!"
