Edman ready for Baggies test

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Erik Edman admits the scoring of his wonder strike against Liverpool has still not quite sunk in as the team prepare for a 4th meeting of the season with West Brom tonight.

The Swede's stunner from nigh on 40 yards - his first for Spurs - is sure to be a strong contender for Goal of the Season, while the man himself still seems to be in a bit of a daze about it all.

"No, it hasn't really sunk in," sighed the full-back, who also netted his first goal for his country during the recent internationals. "It has been a really great feeling though over the last couple of days.

"Everybody has been asking what I was thinking about shooting from that distance. Now I have seen it I have to admit it was maybe not the brightest thing to do, but it worked out okay.

"If I have another 10,000 chances from that range I probably won't hit one like that again," he added, before pondering whether taking on the shot was a sign of increased confidence.

"I guess it is, although I hadn't thought about it that way.

"I saw the goal before when we had a video session and saw it after the game on a mobile phone - so I have only looked at it twice."

Erik raised a smile when it was put to him that his fine form must have something to do with his recent fashion statement in the way he wears his socks! It is very similar to the style adopted by Mauricio Taricco and the full-back reckons it is the 'Italian way'.

"Hopefully it is true - if I get the chance to play on Wednesday I will leave the socks the same as the last three games."

Wednesday, of course, is West Brom at the Lane - a team we have become pretty familiar with over the season. A 1-1 draw in the third game of the campaign at the Hawthorns was repeated in the 4th round of the FA Cup before a replay at the Lane resulted in a 3-1 victory in our favour.

Erik is expecting another challenging contest against a side more than threatening to defy the odds and beat the drop. The Baggies are back in the bottom three on goal difference following Southampton securing a point at Middlesbrough last night, but do have two games in hand on their rivals for survival.

"We have played them a few times already this season and every time it has been tough for us," recalled Erik. "I think it is one of the hardest games to play at the moment, they are battling to stay up and it will be really, really tricky.

"Last time here in the FA Cup they were better than us in the first half an hour and Ledley and Robbo saved us when they could have gone three-up."
