E18GHTEEN nominated at London Pro-Active Awards
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is delighted to announce that the E18HTEEN project has been nominated for 'Project of the Year' at the annual Pro-Active London Sport and Physical Activity Awards.
E18HTEEN and two other programmes have been nominated in this category and the awards ceremony will take place at the Kia Oval later this month.
Jermain Defoe has put his name to E18HTEEN, and is an active ambassador for the project that provides one-to-one mentor support and signposting for identified young people in care and care leavers who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) living in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest.
It uses sport and physical activity as a vehicle to engage young people in care and care leavers aged 16-19 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET in order to improve the quality of life and outcomes for each individual.
With the Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner, sport is taking centre stage. The PRO-ACTIVE London awards are an opportunity to reward the volunteers, activity leaders, clubs and coaches who work tirelessly to improve the provision of sporting opportunities within the capital providing activities, clubs and events for people of all ages.
