Gus Poyet is convinced our run of draws will soon end - in a positive fashion.

Gus Poyet is convinced our run of draws will soon end - in a positive fashion.

Saturday's encounter at Wigan was the third-successive match we've stormed out of the traps in the Barclays Premier League only to be hauled back for a 1-1 draw.

This time, Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring in the sixth minute - our 100th goal in all competitions this season - and despite Wigan's quick response via Emile Heskey, we had numerous chances to put ourselves in a commanding position by the end of the first half.

However, we didn't have the same spark in the second half and the home side should really have won it when Marcus Bent went through on goal only to strike the crossbar.

"I know sooner rather than later we will score a second goal and won’t concede like we did against Newcastle, Blackburn, Middlesbrough or Wigan," stated first team coach Gus, back at Spurs Lodge and preparing for Bolton at the Lane this Saturday.

"We were 1-0 up again, controlling the game, creating chances but didn't score a second goal and weren't good enough on the day to keep a clean sheet. That is the difference between winning and not winning. It’s that little extra one way or the other.

"We had two options – score a second goal, keep a clean sheet – but we didn’t take either of them.

"The positive was how we started. The attitude, desire and performance was there, so we have have to be pleased. But we want to win and we’ve had a spell where we haven’t won, so it’s important to win the next game."
