Dolby tested in Germany

Tottenham Hotspur SF still top Superleague Formula after the team's toughest round of this season's championship so far.

Tottenham Hotspur SF still top Superleague Formula after coming through the toughest round of this season's championship so far.

Craig Dolby finished 10th and sixth in the two races and failed to make it into the Super Final - for the six top-scoring cars of the round - for the first time in 2010.

Main championship rivals AC Milan took full advantage by winning the first race and clawing back 30 points over the weekend as the series reached the halfway stage.

It all went wrong in qualifying on Saturday at Germany's famous Nurburgring track.

The team couldn't quite put their finger on why the car struggled after they were knocked out in the first round of qualifying.

That meant Craig lined-up last on the grid - 18th out of 18 cars - for the opening race.

He battled up to 15th and was as high as seventh when the cars started going in for compulsory pit stops. He came out of his pit stop in 13th and got up to 10th but found himself too far behind Galatasaray to progress further. Still, he bagged a valuable 18 points.

What made it worse was a fine drive by main rivals AC Milan, who went from fourth to first on the opening lap and stayed there for 50 championship points.

Craig lined-up ninth on the grid with finishing places reversed for race two. He was soon up to seventh and looked set to nip in front of Atletico Madrid after pitting, but came out in the same place.

Roma and Lyon both retired to move the team up to fifth but as Craig gave everything to try and get past Atletico Madrid, he was caught by Basel and had to settle for sixth.

That was enough for another 29-point haul and 47 over the weekend but AC Milan took 77 to cut the team's lead by 30 to 30.

Next stop is Zolder in Belgium on the weekend of July 16/17.
