Doherty steps on the Gaz
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty hopes to use a Premiership setting to stay in George Graham’s Premiership plans.
Doherty will be in action at Derby County’s impressive Pride Park as the reserves take on the Rams in the FA Premier Reserve League on Tuesday night (7pm).
The big Irishman has been in the last few first-team squads and appeared twice as substitute so after what he described as a disappointing start to the season things seem to be looking up.
“It’s great just keeping involved,” said Doherty. “I went through a spell where I wasn’t really involved that much but now I’ve come back again and I’ve been playing quite well in the reserves in defence even though it’s been at centre forward where I’ve been involved in the first team.
“It doesn’t make a difference to me though. I’m just glad to be in and around the team.
“I don’t think I’ve deserved to be involved more but if I keep playing well for the reserves, which I think I have in the last couple of games, then hopefully I can push for a place more regularly.
“You have to keep plugging away. When I first came here I didn’t expect to be in the first team anyway but the way things are panning out I’m quite happy. It’s up to me. “If I can keep producing then hopefully the manager will have no choice but to keep me involved. It’s all in my hands.”
As for Tuesday’s game, Doherty added: “We’ve been warned by Chris Hughton that they will be a tough side, always good at this level and always put out a strong team but we’re looking forward to it.
“We’ve had a couple of good results including the 6-0 against Leicester last time out so everyone’s buzzing.”
