Doc's positive outlook
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty chose to look on the positive side after being omitted from the Republic of Ireland's World Cup party.
Doc plans to watch events unfold in Japan and South Korea in the company of friends, step up his fitness at Spurs Lodge and take a well deserved holiday after a wretched season that saw him suffer a broken leg in September.
He harboured slim hopes of making the trip after recovering from the injury setback, but they were dashed on Monday following a call from Ireland boss Mick McCarthy. He does not know whether he is on call should someone suffer an injury during this weekend's final round of games.
"Whether I would come in if someone got injury I don't know," he said. "But there's only one game to go so I can't see anyone getting an injury that would keep them out of the World Cup.
"I'll be watching it, at least I'll get to watch it with a few of my mates now and I'll hopefully have a good summer. I think I'll be in for most of it training so we'll have to wait and see how the summer goes.
"I haven't had a holiday in ages so that will be nice. You've got to take the positives out of it. That's one of them, hopefully I'll be able to relax and come back stronger next season."
