Doc's Keane on Robbie
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty describes Robbie Keane as 'a joy to be with' - he'll hope he's a joy to play against at the Lane on Saturday.
Keane has scored six goals in 10 Premiership appearances for Leeds United after joining them on loan until the end of the season from Italian giants Inter Milan.
Defender Doherty and striker Keane know each other well. The 20-year-olds played for Republic of Ireland Under-18s together, played together when Doherty made his full Irish debut last April and are both members of the squad to face Denmark next week.
Doherty, looking forward to the challenge, enthused: "Robbie has so many assets. He's such a quick thinker, he's sharp in and around the box and you can't afford to give him a yard.
"You have to stay tight to him all the time. He's quick as well. He hasn't really got a weakness but we're defending quite well at the moment and we'll just try to keep that going.
"Robbie's been having such a great season and just seems to grow in confidence. He is one of the top players in the Premiership."
Doherty, alongside Ledley King the find of the season at Spurs, was not surprised by Keane's rise to fame.
"I wasn't surprised about his move to Italy because I always thought he could go all the way," said our FA Cup hero. "The only surprise was how quickly it all happened.
"He's on fire at the moment and certainly one to watch. He's so level headed though and a breath of fresh air, a joy to be with."
Keane is expected to start in place of the suspended Alan Smith.
