Doc's biggest day
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty summed up what Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final meant to everyone in one answer.
“It’s where you want to play your football, the FA Cup quarter-finals, live on television, it’s the game you want to play,” said our in-demand Irish star.
“For a lot of the young lads it will be the biggest game of our careers.
“I certainly can’t think of a bigger game I’ve played in — Manchester United last season, but that was a dead game and my Ireland debut, although that was a friendly as well. This is it.”
Doherty has shot to fame since bursting into the side at the turn of the year.
Media interest has certainly opened his eyes and it was there again at Spurs Lodge this week, the subject of interviews from The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, Sky TV, radio and, of course, the Official Spurs Website.
“This is what the FA Cup is all about, the interest is unbelievable,” he added.
“It’s a massive game, a London derby and I’m sure West Ham will be looking forward to it as well because the two away wins they’ve had in the competition have been massive for them.
“It will be hard for us away from home but we’ve already been there and managed a 0-0 draw so we have to fancy ourselves.
“We’ll have nothing to fear and they’ve had a few injuries as well. But it will be a tough game. They have quality all over the pitch, no matter what side they put out. They are a threat from anywhere.”
