Doc seeks points remedy

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Gary Doherty admits that breaking the losing cycle with the draw against Manchester City on Monday was a big relief.

Since the two and a half week break in fixtures following the Leicester game, the team struggled to get back in their stride after a strong start to the new year and recorded just one win in six prior to Monday. The boys were on the wrong end of several narrow reverses and luck appeared to dried up in front of goal.

Thankfully the drought was ended on Monday when Jermain Defoe popped up with the equaliser against City and Gary hopes this will provide the springboard to improved fortunes in the final furlong of the campaign.

"I think it was a relief because recently we have been really struggling to score goals," explained Gary, who added that it feels like nothing goes right when you hit a bad run of results. "To get the all-important goal and stop the run of defeats is important for us.

"It's like every mistake you make gets punished and everything falls for the other team - that's how you feel. Like on Monday, Anelka hits the keeper, it bounces back to him and he hits it into an empty net.

"It is hard when you get into a rut and it is up to the team now to really pull ourselves round and we need to start picking up a few points - we want to get to the 45-47 point mark."

"We needed to put in a hundred times better performance in the second half against Everton even though the game was dead. We got the goal and in some ways that gave us a boost going into the City game and we felt we could start scoring again.

"We've now stopped the rot with a point and hopefully we can now go into the Bolton game with more confidence."
