Doc seeks Old Trafford remedy

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Gary Doherty has good reason to remember last season's trip to Old Trafford - not that it is a memory he recalls particularly fondly.

It was a stout defensive performance against Manchester United in September 2002 and few chances were created by either side. The game was settled on 63 minutes when Gary tripped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the area and referee Rob Styles pointed to the spot.

"I've spoken to a few fans and they were saying that was probably one of the best defensive performances from us - it was just unfortunate," considered Gary. "I think I hadn't played for ages and my fitness was lacking a little bit.

"It was a sloppy tackle, I think on Solskjaer, and hopefully I can put things right when we go up there on Saturday.

"I was really disappointed with myself because you do get a sense that you've let everyone down. We tried so hard up there and 1-0 at Old Trafford against the champions is not a disaster, but disappointing in the way we lost it."

We head to the north west tomorrow with United playing on the back of two numbing defeats - to Porto and Manchester City - but Gary says overcoming the champions on their own patch is still a tall order.

"Everyone says they are not at their best, but it's still Man Utd and you are playing at Old Trafford. It is always going to be hard, they've still got Giggs, Scholes, Van Nistelrooy - world class players.

"It is going to be difficult for us but we're going there with confidence and I think our record has been good since the turn of the year. Hopefully we can get a result."
