Doc on bench
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gary Doherty is in the reserve team squad for tonight's reserve clash at Charlton as the first step of his playing comeback from a broken leg.
The Irishman is on the bench for the match at the Valley, kick-off 7pm. Other experienced players on view will be Kasey Keller, Stephen Clemence, Matthew Etherington and Alton Thelwell.
Doc suffered the horrific injury against Torquay in the Worthington Cup back in September, but is now happy to report that he came through a training ground practice match at the weekend.
"It's feeling strong," said Gary on Monday. "I played in a practice game against the youth team on Saturday and it felt quite good.
"I'll see how it goes, hopefully I can get a run-out with the reserves on Thursday at Charlton. We'll see how it holds out then."
The Republic of Ireland international admits he's suffered a few aches and pains along the comeback trail, but is feeling in fine fettle at present.
"You have good days, you have bad days, like all long term injuries. It's feeling really well at the moment so hopefully it'll continue," he smiled, before admitting that his timing and all round game needs a bit of polish.
"Not quite, hopefully it'll come soon. It just takes time. I'm just trying to get my fitness and stuff up at the moment. Once you get your fitness up your timing will come naturally, I hope.
"Hopefully I'll get a run-out, a half maybe, on Thursday and see how it goes."
Squad: Keller, Jacobsen, Quilter, Clemence, Thelwell, Toner, Snee, Jackson, Vedeux, Kamanan, Etherington, Consorti, Kelly, Doherty, Herron, Thomas.
