Dinamo Tbilisi vs Spurs - team news
21 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Aaron Lennon and Jan Vertonghen have not flown out with the squad to Georgia as we prepare to face Dinamo Tbilisi in the Europa League play-off, first leg on Thursday night.
Andre Villas-Boas explained that both stayed at the Training Centre to fully prepare for Sunday's Premier League encounter with Swansea at the Lane.
Jan returned to action in Sunday's Premier League opening-day win at Palace after the best part of four weeks out with an ankle injury sustained in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.
Andre added that Aaron has experienced pain in his foot of late, but would be ready to face the Swans.
"With Jan, bearing in mind his injury in Asia, we decided to leave him out to have a full recovery and treatment on the ankle," reported Andre from the Dinamo Arena on Wednesday night.
"We’ve decided it would be difficult for him to complete both matches, Dinamo Tbilisi on Thursday and Swansea on Sunday.
"Aaron Lennon has been complaining of pain in his foot. He was okay for the game against Palace and will be okay for the game against Swansea. It’s one of those situations where rest is vital for the recovery."
Meanwhile, Andre added that Lewis Holtby had completed his first training session on Monday as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury suffered in this summer's European Under-21 Championship Finals.
