Dinamo Tbilisi vs Spurs - Andre's preview
22 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Andre Villas-Boas has laid out his approach to this season's Europa League.
"We want to do well in the competition,” said Andre ahead of tonight’s play-off, first leg against Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia.
“We set an example last season that playing in the Europa League on Thursday night, it was still possible to play in the Premier League on Sunday.
“We responded well last season so with that experience, with the willingness the players have to win trophies, the only way we can approach it is in the same way.”
Andre is well aware of Dinamo Tbilisi’s pedigree. Double-winners in Georgia last season, they kicked-off their European campaign in Champions League qualifying, only to lose out to Steaua Bucharest.
"This play-off is there for us and we have to be aware,” he added.
“They have European experience because they normally dominate the league in Georgia. You wouldn’t expect them to give us an easy job, they are a team full of internationals and have a lot of quality as well.
“The focus is the same as how we approached Palace. It’s a team we don’t know so well, so everyone has to be on their toes to make sure no slip-ups happen.
“We’re happy we have the second game at home and hopefully we’ll go through.”
