Welcome to 'Digger's Diary' - an all-new column from our star midfielder Simon Davies.
The current Spurs and Welsh Player of the Year will talk to www.spurs.co.uk regularly throughout the 2003-04 campaign.
Of course, he's hoping for silverware and Premiership success at the Lane - but, come next June, he could also be competing in the European Championships as Wales head to qualify for a major finals for the first time since 1958.
And we'll be with 'Digger' - a childhood nickname - every step of the way.
Here is his first diary entry as we prepare to kick-off our Premiership campaign at Birmingham City...
THE lads can't wait for the start of the season.
Let's be honest, we were all disappointed with the way last season ended and we want to put it right.
As you all know we kick-off the season at Birmingham City on Saturday and that means a clash against my Welsh team-mate Robbie Savage.
Everyone knows his game by now. He's always going to be at you, always snapping around your heels trying to get the ball and we'll have to be aware of him. He also has great energy and he'll be up and down all game.
Steve Clemence is also at Birmingham and while he has that aggression as well, he also has good quality, two great feet and can knock a great ball. They've a lot of talent in that midfield with the arrival of David Dunn as well and it will be a tough encounter but we're all very determined this season.
Birmingham's crowd always make it a noisy atmosphere and it's the same when our crowd are right up for it at the Lane, it helps us no end. It's just one of those things we have to block out on this occasion and concentrate on our game.
August is a very busy time for me. After the Birmingham game I'll be joining Wales as we take on Serbia and Montenegro on the Wednesday. It's a massive game for us and if we can get a result there it will take a bit of pressure of the Italy game which is obviously a vital game for us now.
We play Italy on September 6 and if we can get a result there it would be fantastic for us.
After that we've two home games to finish with against Finland and Serbia Montenegro and we'll be looking to take maximum points.
If we can get to the finals we would be on such a high.
But that's in the future and all I'm thinking about at the moment is Birmingham - let's hope we can get off to a good start.
All the best,
