AS MOST of you probably know, I played the full 90 minutes in a practice match against QPR at the training ground on Monday. It was a good run out and I got the full game under my belt which is the most important thing. It's another step towards getting back. I'm still aware of the injury but I've been told to expect that and get on with it. That's what I'm doing. I feel I've still a little way to go because I've been out for a long time without any football. I'm desperate to play again. I'd love to get back and try and help the team.

SOMETIMES you've got to hold you hands up and I just think Manchester United played exceptionally in that first hour on Sunday. They made it hard for us but we came back strongly after Gus scored, put pressure on them and finished well. That was a decent effort after going 2-0 down. Ryan Giggs was on fire and he's unstoppable in that form. But as I said, we finished well and we can take that into Portsmouth on Boxing Day.
I'M STILL in touch with Teddy Sheringham, who was a great influence on my career when he was at the club. I can imagine he's a great player to have around for Portsmouth at the moment with his experience. He'll make sure they don't panic. He had a great start to the season, as did Portsmouth, but they've found it more difficult of late and have slipped into the bottom three. It will be tough, they have some great players, plenty of experience and as they showed against Leeds, when they click, they can do a lot of damage. It will be a tight, scrappy game but hopefully we'll come out on top. We need the points.
CHARLTON are looking solid, play well away from home and present another tough home game on Sunday. These are teams we have to believe we can beat though. The longer this little run goes, the harder it will be to pull out of it. Everyone at the club is aware of where we are and we're all doing everything we can to get out of it.
THE lads visited various hospitals in the area on Tuesday. It's something we all enjoy and it's great to be able to put a smile on the childrens' faces at what must be a tough time of year. All the players were involved and it's great to give something back.
I'D LIKE to wish you all a merry Christmas and happy New Year and rest assured, we'll be doing all we can to give you the best present of all - two wins over Christmas!

All the best,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Simon
