Eric Dier described Sunday afternoon as “very tough” – but insists we’ll look to improve as best we can when we return to action.
The 20-year-old defender retained his place at right-back from our previous Premier League outing against Queens Park Rangers as we suffered a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
Eric was adjudged to have fouled Joe Allen in the box, an incident which led to the penalty from which Steven Gerrard made it 2-0 four minutes after half-time, while Raheem Sterling and Alberto Moreno added Liverpool’s other goals.
It was a difficult experience for the recently-signed defender, but he says he’s determined to help us make a swift return to winning ways after the international break.
“It was very tough but we have to improve,” said Eric. “We didn’t start the game too well and we paid for it with the early goal, but we’ve got to keep going.
“You can’t take the highs too high and the lows too low, you’ve just got to learn from it and keep trying to improve – that’s something we can strive for.”
