Delight for Andros

Andros Townsend was delighted to play his part in the win against Swansea.

The winger was introduced off the bench for Emmanuel Adebayor in the 72nd minute and within minutes was brought down for the free-kick that led to Jan Vertonghen’s winning goal.

He continued to run at the Swansea defence at every opportunity in what was an impressive cameo performance in a key win.

Andros certainly maintained his flying form to run Aston Villa ragged as our Under-21s won 3-0 at Villa Park on Monday night.

“It’s been a while since I last featured for the first team so when I got the chance, I was desperate to make an impression and hopefully I did that,” he said.

“The most important thing was that we got the goal and won the game.

“The manager told me I had 15 minutes, to try and get on the ball, try to get onto my left foot and get shots off and basically, to make an impact.

“I’m just delighted to get some minutes and hopefully I ‘ll get some more between now and the end of the season.”
