Dele in dreamland

Wed 12 August 2015, 01:02|Tottenham Hotspur

Dele Alli lived 'every kid’s dream' at Old Trafford last weekend.

The energetic midfielder’s Premier League debut came in the high-pressure situation of an away game against Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

It was a significant change of scenery for the 19-year-old, who helped MK Dons to promotion from League One last season with a string of fine displays at that level.

But the young man said he wasn’t fazed in the slightest when he ran out in Spurs colours in the top flight for the first time on Saturday, replacing Eric Dier as a second half substitute in our narrow 1-0 defeat to the Red Devils.

“I’m delighted to get my Premier League debut under my belt,” said the central midfielder. “It was a good experience for me – I didn’t play that long but when I came on the game was really intense as we were looking for an equaliser and pushing for that goal.

“I was totally focused on the game when the gaffer gave me the signal. Obviously I’d been watching the match from the sidelines and I wanted to get on and try to help the team.

“I made sure I was ready when I got the nod and it was a case of coming on and trying my hardest.

“It’s every kid’s dream to play in the Premier League, so Saturday was a special moment for me. Everyone has been working hard in the pre-season training sessions so to finally get out there and play was brilliant.”
