Deja vu for Glenn
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle admitted to experiencing a spot of deja vu when Gus Poyet received a red card after just 30 minutes against Blackburn on Sunday.
A goal down to an early Dwight Yorke strike - the same scoreline as when Chris Perry was dismissed against Middlesbrough at the Riverside last week.
On both occasions the opposition exploited their numerical advantage - and the fact that Spurs had to push on - to register big wins.
"It is a bit of deja vu from last week, actually," reflected a disappointed Glenn. "We started brightly enough, but had to spend 60 minutes chasing the game.
"It is very difficult and the result is a poor reflection. You are trying to push forward to get back into the game and you are always on offer on the break."
A spectacular volley from Craig Hignett just before the break virtually put paid to any hopes of a second half fightback and, while Glenn did not fault the effort put in, he conceded that it was not the end of season he had in mind.
"The killer one for us was the one just before half-time, at 1-0 with ten men at home you've got a chance - 2-0 is a deficit that is very difficult to claw back and you get caught inbetween two stools.
"I can't complain about the effort that was put in, we kept working tirelessly. In both weeks there has been an exaggeration in the scoreline because we were trying to get back into the game.
"You do leave too many spaces and Blackburn had the cutting edge to punish us
"It is a disappointing way to finish the season, without a shadow of a doubt."
