Degree students graduate at the Lane

19 August 2013|Tottenham Hotspur

Students from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation degree programme have been recognised at a special graduation ceremony at White Hart Lane.

Twenty-three young people who enrolled on the course two years ago completed their studies this summer, with 70% of students achieving a 2.2 or above.

Foundation degree courses on offer include FdSc Applied Football Coaching & Performance and FdA Applied Sport & Community Development, with the latter the first of its kind to be run by a Premier League football club.

All graduates, and their families, received a champagne reception and two-course meal at White Hart Lane before being handed certificates by legendary Club Ambassador, Ledley King.

Students will now take the option of topping up to a BA Hons degree by studying for a further year at Middlesex University, whom the scheme is run in partnership with.

Laura Cornell, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Higher Education Manager, said: “Our students receive a very unique higher education experience and are now in a fantastic position to complete their degree at Middlesex University or to enter employment with not only enhanced knowledge and skills but work experience that they will have received through placements at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.

“We’re very fortunate to be based at the iconic and inspirational White Hart Lane Stadium which allows us to hold such wonderful events for our students and invite their friends and family to celebrate their success.

“We presented a number of awards at this year’s event including the Programme Leader’s Recognition Award which went to Collette McAllister and the CEO’s award for Outstanding Contribution which went to JoJo Clarke.

“As a reasonably small Higher Education Institution, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation offers its students unmatched support, high quality facilities and the opportunity to study and work at a Premier League football club.

“We hope to celebrate even more success in two years, when students from our new Football Coaching and Performance programme will also graduate.”

The UCAS clearing process is now open with places available on both courses, beginning in October.
