Defoe seeks Derby tonic

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Jermain Defoe believes a win against Arsenal would provide the perfect tonic for the remainder of the season and beyond.

The team have endured a well-chronicled sticky period, but the striker feels the ability in the side is there to make more than an impression on the champions-elect when they visit the Lane on Sunday.

"I think so, if we could beat Arsenal and get the three points, the confidence gained would be amazing for the remaining games and after.

"They are a good side who have the chance of winning the title so it is a big game for us.

"I think we are good enough, we've got the players and are at home. If the fans get behind us, you never know."

As a fellow member of the striker's union, Jermain is unstinting in his praise for Highbury hotshot Thierry Henry, who he agrees is pretty much the complete player.

"Definitely, watching the game against Leeds on Friday he was unbelievable and I was lost for words. He is such an athlete and very strong.

"He is amazing to do what he does, he scores goals and sets up goals as well. I think it is unusual for a forward to score so many and also set them up for others.

"Hopefully we can keep him quiet on Sunday."

Jermain himself hit a quiet patch recently before resuming normal service against Manchester City in our last home game. He insists that his six games without a goal did not affect his belief in his ability to find the net.

"You know you can can score goals because you've done it before. You just need to try and do the same things, work hard in training, stay behind and practice your finishing and the goals will come.

"All strikers go through a patch when they can't score. If you are having shots and hitting the target then they will soon go in. You must do the same things," he added, before conceding that the team were well below par in last weekend's defeat at Bolton.

"Bolton started quicker than us, we didn't start like we should have and deserved what we got really.

"What we need to do now is look forward and that means the Arsenal game on Sunday."

*If you are coming to the game on Sunday, please ensure that you arrive at the ground in good time to take your seat as there will be security checks at the turnstiles.
