Defoe on song as kick-off looms
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jermain Defoe reports that he is feeling sharp as we enter the final stages of pre-season and the big Premiership kick-off looms.
The striker has netted against FC Copenhagen, Stevenage Borough, Hull City and Nottingham Forest during the preparation period and was a second half substitute against Feyenoord in the Kappa Cup in Seville on Tuesday evening.
He doesn't read too much into the 2-1 reverse against the Dutch outfit, pointing out that the conditions were not ideal and the trip is as much about achieving optimum fitness levels.
"It was good for us," considered Jermain. "Obviously we want to win every game if possible, but the conditions were really hard out there.
"We had a mixed team and a lot of younger players and it was all about conditioning and trying to work hard. We are all looking forward to the important game against Liverpool on the 14th.
"I feel sharp, training has been good and I've enjoyed it. We've done some good stuff, I feel fit and I'm sure the other players do too."
Fredi Kanoute continued his return to action at the Olympic Stadium with another goal and is a player Jermain feels is of great value to the team.
"It helps a lot when you have a big man up there. Fredi is a great player, he is strong and great on the ball as well."
A further boost to Jacques Santini was the first appearance of Michael Brown since the encounter with FC Copenhagen in Sweden.
The Head Coach added that the tenacious midfielder and others will progress their fitness in the coming days.
"It is good news for him and the team," said Jacques. "Michael, Jamie and Anthony are getting stronger and will continue with their conditioning over the next 10 days.
"With Robbie out as well it has been difficult but I am confident in the players and the team."
