Defoe on Derby date
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jermain Defoe hopes tonight's live television date with Arsenal will provide an ideal showcase to display how far the team has developed over the course of this season.
It has certainly been a promising campaign and our young side - with four games to go - remain in contention for a top six or seven spot. Jermain himself has more than played his part with 22 goals netted in all competitions and adding to that tally at Highbury is high on his list of priorities.
Just before we spoke to him, he received an award from a magazine for his brilliant strike in the reverse fixture at the Lane - that finished 5-4 to Arsenal - and the England international is in no doubt over what the outcome of the encounter means to the supporters.
"It means so much to the fans and everyone," insisted an already excited Jermain. "Playing against Arsenal is always good and to score in a game like that is special. In the last game we were the better side for periods of the match and there are not many teams who score four goals past them.
"It would be special for me to score again, I have scored there before but didn't win the game. To get three points would just be brilliant. We want to win for the fans.
"With the way we have been playing I think it will be a good game on Monday, should be really tight. We have been strong in defence recently and have not conceded goals like we did a few months ago when we last played them.
"It is good it is on Sky and it is a chance to show everyone how far we have come. I think people have realised already, we have had a good season and can still push on a little bit more.
"We must be one of the youngest sides in the league and it is great, to be honest. We have a lot of energy and are hungry - which is good for the club."
Jermain concluded by saying the fact that the title could be settled on the outcome of the game is just a side issue and will not enter the thoughts of the players before or during the 90 minutes.
"Not at all, when you are playing you just want to win the game. If the title is settled then so be it."
