Defoe grows in stature
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Jermain Defoe believes he's grown as a player in his time at Spurs.
The in-form striker has started the season in fine form with three goals in our opening four Premiership matches.
The latest and best proved the difference between the sides as we beat Birmingham City 1-0 to remain unbeaten and fourth in the table on Saturday.
That goal was in front of the watching Sven Goran Eriksson and it was no surprise Jermain found himself in England's squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Poland.
Jermain insists his time at the club last season after arriving in January has given him a head start this time around.
"I think I've grown as a player and it helps when you are playing with good players as well," he said.
"I was here for the second half of last season and in that time all you want to do is play well, get to know everyone and get the crowd on your side.
"It's been a good start for me and I'm really enjoying my football at the moment. All I can do is look forward to the next game and score as many goals as I can."
Saturday's was worthy of winning any game as Jermain sped away from two City defenders before cutting back inside Kenny Cunningham onto his right foot and unleashing a 25-yard drive beyond Maik Taylor.
"I was delighted with the goal and to do it in front of the England manager was a bonus as well," he beamed.
"As a forward there is nothing better than scoring goals and at the minute it's going well for me. When you are out there and doing it it's all very instinctive."
As for England duty, it appears Eriksson has to choose between Jermain and Alan Smith to partner Michael Owen.
Jermain simply added: "It's all good experience for me and these are the games everyone wants to be involved in, World Cup qualifiers."
