Deano's done deal

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Reserve captain Dean Marney is delighted to have secured a new contract at the club and is now dreaming of a taste of first team football before the season is out.

It was announced last weekend that the versatile midfielder signed his new deal and he has been named in Glenn's last two squads for the games against Liverpool and Bolton.

"I was pleased to sign it and everything is good for me. It's all done and hopefully I can really push on from now," said Dean, who explained that being around the senior set-up only makes him hungry for more of the same.

"Definitely, especially now I've been in and around the squad. Now I've got to try and push on and hopefully get on the bench.

"If I do that and the chance to get on comes along then it's up to me to try and take it.

"I'm really pleased to just be involved but, before the end of the season, I would love to be on the bench. As long as I stay in and around the squad I'll be pleased."

Dean played most of his football in midfield for his Academy teams but, since graduating to the reserves and his starring role in this season's Tribute Match, has adapted to the wing-back position with some distinction.

He feels that being comfortable in a number of positions can only help him at this stage of his development.

"To be honest, I'm only 19 and I can't pick and choose where I might play. As long as I play and get the opportunity to impress I'm not really fussed.

"I think if you stick with one position you might have to wait ages before that opportunity comes along. If you've got a variety it can only help."

He conceded that, as opposed to reserve and Academy football, away travel is a far more pleasurable experience with the first team.

"You fly up! Bolton took just over half an hour on the plane. It's the little things you notice."
